Getting stiffed is a solved problem
Every trade worker has a story about a final payment that took four months or never came. On a job with a draw schedule, the owner funds each milestone into escrow before the stage begins. You can see it is funded. When the owner approves the milestone, it releases to your connected account.
If an owner disputes a stage, the money stays in escrow rather than returning to them — so stalling gains them nothing, which is the entire point.
Your record is the thing that ranks you
No paid placement exists on TradeDeck, so there is nothing to outspend. Your tier is built from jobs completed, whether you hit the milestone dates, how close the final cost landed to what you bid, and whether you left the site clean.
That last one matters more than most platforms admit. It is a binary question at close-out and it is one of the clearest signals of whether somebody will want you back.

Yes. Browsing jobs, applying, and having a profile are all free.
How do I get paid?
Through a connected Stripe account. When the owner approves a milestone, the escrowed funds for that draw are released to you.
Do I need a license to sign up?
Not to create a profile or apply. Licensing requirements depend on the trade and the scope of the specific job, same as anywhere else in Utah.
What if the owner will not approve a finished milestone?
Submit your photo evidence through the draw, which timestamps it. A disputed draw keeps the funds in escrow rather than releasing them back, so there is no incentive for an owner to stall.
